Show CEU Friday March - Miss CEU Wendie Mathie - 1st Attendant My tami Frank Walter by staff writer Mm CEU 1H& The stage is set lights are on and the Miss CEU contestants for 1986 are all in their places ready to perform The music starts and they begin Trying to stay calm is the main objective but nervousness is written all over their faces and this is the night before the pageant The usual confusion surrounds the whole ordeal They dance through the opening scene four to five times before they get all the bugs worked out talent and The introduction evening gown sections of the show took about the same amount of time It seemed evident that the girls were very nervous However they all seemed to like the experience and had different ideas on their favorite part of the pageant Fran Knorr felt the pageant would be a good experience for her she said that it would help her build stage appearance self presentation and poise The part of the show die enjoyed most was the humorous intenretation Kari Radakovich said that this would be a good chance to represent the school plus a good experience overall Her favorite partof the show is the evening gown competition Earlene Alley said that it was her grandmother who pursuaded her to enter the competition She really enjoys the people that she has been working with Alley said "The pageant is a really good experience because you get to know the people that you’re working with a lot better" Her favorite part of the show is the evening gown competition Chris Ware said that she lovee working with all the other contestants and that she has learned a lot such as walking poise and overall lady-lik- e Her qualities favorite part of the show is the evening gown competition Wendie Mathie said she has enjoyed working with theother girls plus getting to know them all better Mathie said "A pageant works on your nerves but when it is all over you realize it wu a good fun experience Her favorite part of the show is the talent competition Jennifer Chris loved the pageant and all the people she has had the chance to work with This is the first pageant she has been in and was very it nervous about Chris said "This pageant is good for me because It help me build self confidence and to feel better about myself" Her favorite part of the show is the production number Paulina Gittel said she really liked wl Karl RsttmMh mcsM rasar-s- p 19867 986 Miss CEU Pageant Juley Atwod 7 Kari Radakovich - 2nd Attendant Earlene Alley - Miss Photogenic sal Eartae Mi p IN TwmmfKm the pageant as a whole especially learning how to walk This is also the first time for her in a pageant also she wu very nervous Her favorite part of the show is the talent competition Almost 24 hours later the nervousness fear and contemplation is ended with Juley Atwood named Miss CEU 1986 She is a native of Elmo and graduated from Emery High School where she participated on the Spardette drill team gymnutics team and received superior ratings in the regional and state level of speech and drama Miss Atwood is a sophomore at CEU majoring in elementary education She is a member of the forensics squad where she competes in duet acting dramatic interpretation poetry u ld interpretation readers theatre speaking to entertain and informative speaking She is captain of the Blue Debs drill team a member of the PEDDs dance team first runner up to Homecoming queen and is Emmett the Eagle mascot She wu awarded a medallian for outstanding mascot at the USA Cheerleading camp in Santa Barbara lut summer In theatre she had leads in "The Butler Did It" and "Once Upon a Mattress" and worked the technicals for "God’s Favorite" She chose elementary education u a major because she likes to be around children and can teach the future leaders of tomorrow Her parents are Mr and Mrs Clark Atwood First runner-u- p is Wendie Mathie freshman of Price The field medical in the to plans major and is attending CEU on a presidential scholarship social She wu valedictorian science sterling scholar and student body secretary at Carbon High School As a CEU student she is a cheerleader and on the Dean’s list Miss Mathie wu also named Miss Congeniality by the other contestants She is the daughter of Gordon and Jeanine Mathie is Kari Ann Second runner-u- p Radakovich of Price The old freshman is a business major and is attending CEU on an honors at entrance scholarship She wu vocational valedictorian girl’s state representative and senior class president at Carbon High School She is the daughter of Robert and Ellen Radakovich Earlene Nanette Alley wu named Mbs Photogenic She is the daughter of Jeneane Samples of 18-yea- r- Spring Glen PEDDs prepare tor concert by Annette Rogers staff writer The 1985-8- 6 season for the physical education dance department (PEDDs) is underway with two shows being prepared for area junior high and elementary schools Their third annual spring concert is May 1 and 2 in the Geary Theatre with a special on the Grand Waltz said the group’s advisor Joy Peterson She said that the group will perform in costumes but because of the limited budget the performances will be limited Mrs Joy Peterson said that the group hu openings for two male dancers for the spring concert and if anyone is interested in auditioning to contact her in the BDAC the highlights in the performances is cloning This form of dance hu become very popular in the United Statu with a particular interest in this state” Mrs Peterson One of added Clogging competitions are being held in Salt Lake Logan Ogden Provo and one is on the agenda for Emery County this month featuring novice clogging During November doggers in Salt Lake sponsored a competition with over 1000 doggers entering Dancers from Utah Idaho Wyoming and Colorado competed in the event Mrs Petersen is trying to involve more students who like to dance in the PEDDs program One-cred- it hour of credit is being offered to students for participation in the program "Hopefully we will be able to offer dance scholarshim next year if we have continued success In feet PEDDs wu given a $500 grant for new dance equipment this year" she added The members of the group include Gilu Jefferson Michelle Hansen Monica Leonard Juley Attwood Cindy Green Doug Furlow Vangie Bisquera Chris Harrison Cindy Thomas Annette Rogers Yvonne Caleoa and Eric Vaughn |
