This year the students divided Into two parties, known as the Progressives Progres-sives and the Stalwarts, each placing a ticket In the Held for election last , Tuesday. Primaries and conventions were held in regular order and a campaign cam-paign of spcechmaklng and argumen tation was conducted by the two parties. par-ties. The Stalwarts succeeded In electing nearly all of their ticket ex- j cept the councllmen, the other side winning half of the council. Those elected were: Shi pp. for ' mayor; McLaughlin, for justice of the peace; Wilson, recorder; Jackson, city I attorney; Coleman ' and Drysdale. councllmen for the First district; Dro-7.ler Dro-7.ler and Doty for the Second, and I Ray and F.cklund for the Third. The vote between the two factions whs close, the Stalwarts on the main ticket winning by 3S to 31. |
