Munz, the man arrested for burglarizing the home of William Douglass, was arrested by the officers without tha help of former Detective Robert Burk, was shown by Chief of Police T. E. Browning this morning. In justice to the work of the Ogden police department, a denial of tho story connecting the former police-! police-! man with the arrest of the thief is asked by the chief, t According to the story as published, t Burk was given credit for directing the officers, Sergeant Mohlman and ;t Detective Hob30n. to thn rnnminc I house, claiming he got information from citizens whereby he knew whero the man was. Chief Browning said the officers had been on the trail of the man be-; be-; fore Burk knew anything about it. ; Tho source of information for Burk was Seth Thomas, of the pawn shop where the stolen articles were pawned. pawn-ed. Burk happened to be in the place and Mr. Thomas pointed tho man out to him as he was passing the store. Previous to that time, Mrs. Douglass Doug-lass had told the police of the robbery and gave a description of the man, so the police were already on his trail. As soon as he told Burk, Thomas ! got into his auto and drove down the jj street, where ho picked up Hobson. J He took the officer to tho rooming house and tho arrest was made.
