Show Mining JVfotej. There seems to be considerable interest man ifested in the coming La Reine meeting and if i plans do not miscarry it is very probable that the f head office of that company will be at Eureka in- stead of Salt Lake after this meeting. The Eureka Eu-reka people have every confidence that they can make a mine of it while the old management stated stat-ed some time ago that they had no confidence in being able to make it a first class mine. tv tv t&V The ground on wnlch the Yampa smelter is to bo built was surveyed this week and within a few I days that part of Bingham Canyon lying just be-.' be-.' low the depot will present a very busy scene. The site is an ideal one In every respect. An abundant abund-ant water supply can be obtained by sinking a well to tap the water channel that courses down I the gulch. Tramway terminal facilities are of the Dest with the connection to the main line right at the doors of the new smelter, making it as easy to get in supplies from outside as if it were located down in the valley. With this large addition to Bingham's mining industry, the camp should take on a very prosperous look in the very near future. fu-ture. & & & An assesment of four cents per share has been l levied on the stock of the Silver Shield Mining company which when collected will put $12,000 i into the treasury of that company. This will en- able them to pay the present indebtedness and also leave a fair sized working capital. The face j ot the long tunnel is now 50 feet inside their own ground and the vein looks very encouraging. C. L. Rood, manager of the Ontario, Daly and Naildriver mines, returned from Park City with encouraging information from the latter property. proper-ty. He reports that the new shaft has attained a depth of 105 feet and that the bottom was in. vein ' material. No surveys have yet been made to determine de-termine at just what depth the old workings of the property will be reached, but it will not be far from the 200-foot mark. The locality in which the Naildriver is located is being watched with much Interest and each day is expected to bring news of an important strike from that quarter. 5 tv t0 Joseph S. Free, manager of the Park City Gold and Silver company's property in the Snake Creek district, says that their shaft is now down to a depth of 200 feet and that a station is being cut at that, point. From this station a drift will be run to tap the vein that left the shaft a few feet above and it is expected that ore of a good quality Will make at this depth. If not the shaft will be sent down another hundred feet and there is little lit-tle doubt that from that point the drift can be run into ore. , (5? iC 3 j The Ophlr Queen will resume work in a few days and Mr. Hunt, its 'manager, says he expects the mine will make a better showing this season than it has heretofore notwithstanding the fact f that its record has always been a good one. Not ft a great deal was done on the property during the ft winter on account of the rather isolated location ft of the mine and the resultant difficulty of keeping the men. Now that the good weather season is at hand Mr. Hunt will stay at the mine a great B deal of the time himself and thus encourage the jH miners to remain also. Considerable ore was 9 shipped last year and it will not be long until the H mine begins to send out a mill tonnage again. |
