Show Richards Returns From SF Conclave Horace B. Richards, one of two southeasterners on the Salt Lake City School Board, recently recent-ly returned from San Francisco where he attended a convention of the American Association of School Administrators. Mr. Richards reported that from the criteria set up at that convention, Salt Lake schools rated "right up at the top" in educational standards and excellence. excel-lence. One hundred and nineteen nine-teen Utahns attended the convention, con-vention, he said. Superintendent Lynn Ben-nion, Ben-nion, Assistant Superintendent Marion G. Merkley, and Arthur E. Arnesen, represented the local lo-cal school officers at the conclave. con-clave. LeGrand Backman and Judge Rulon Clark were the other board members in attendance attend-ance with Mr. Richards. In regard to the proposed high school at the prison site, Mr. Richards said that one speaker at the convention a landscape architect cited several instances in-stances in the nation where schools had been built in conjunction con-junction with community parks. The speaker said that "they complemented each other in every case." |
