Show Boxing Bout. The recent tistiu encounter between two of Logan's foinlnes of pugilistic tendencies has aiouscd the local "sports" to action and there Is now on foot a move to have a seml-publlu boxing box-ing contest between the winner of tho recent bout and any of the fair creatures crea-tures who are willing to meet her, a la Marquis of Queensbury. At a private pri-vate meeting. Wednesday night "Fltz Jr.," as she Is dubbed by her many enthuslatic admhers, expressed a willingness will-ingness to meet any one in her class with a reputation worthy of her consideration, con-sideration, and Indicated a preference for a certain "fatslob," who resembles a bag of meal tied In the middle, weighing about 200, and whose stature is about 0x7. "Fltz," like all other pugilists of note, does considerable lighting with the mouth of course, and in her mind lias already burled her good right arm in tills lardly creature many times. Her managers, however, feel that it would be beneath her dignity dig-nity to Insist on meeting a creature of such diminutive proportions and dainty appearance, and have prefened to arrange for her a contest with a boxer box-er nearer her class. Fitz claims to be In excellent trim, and Is dieting dally threo large potatoes, 0 pounds of beef steak, and two loaves of bread, being all that Is allowed her at each meal, with the addition of a pie, cake, strawberries, and onions for the evening even-ing dinner. She is in training and lias an assortment of inshoots, outshoots, corkscrew twisters, solar-plexus knockouts, knock-outs, uppcicuts, feints, sidesteps, and body blows that would make "young Corbett" green with envy. Her nerve is about proper, too, and she fears neither man, woman or the devil, and believes she could even come out victor with the smallpox. Fltz has a remarkably heavy blow, resembling In a measure the kick of a mule. However, How-ever, this rising young pugilist prides herself more on her pulling and chewing chew-ing capacity than all things else and desires to Incorporate in tho rules a provision that her opponent shall wear real hair and that It be left hanging down the back, also that there be no rule preventing tho chewing of thumbs. There will probably bo something some-thing doing in a short while and the "sports" should be on the look-out. |
