The nonprofit group launched its website today offering the opportunity for interested individuals to register at no cost. Registered WYE members will have access to the schedule of activities and receive a monthly e-mail newsletter. WYE’s founder Trevor Cryer says the group is focused on providing opportunities for serious entrepreneurs to network and gain needed encouragement. “We’re hoping to create an open arena for young entrepreneurs who inevitably will run into obstacles. They need the support and encouragement of other like-minded business owners.” WYE aims to provide support to the 18 to 35-year-old age group-a demographic whose entrepreneurial ambitions are growing. According to the National Panel Study of U.S. Business Start-Ups people aged 25 to 34 make up the largest group launching startups, and according to the resource book No Experience Necessary: The Young Entrepreneur’s Guide to Starting a Business, those 25 years and younger launch businesses at the highest rate in the nation. Future plans for WYE include: Recruitment of alumni to assist in mentor ing, business plan critiques and general support. Frequent social events to allow for member networking. Business seminars to inspire and educate in specific areas of business ownership. Organization of brainstorming and focus groups to help members thrash out concepts. Formation of a two- or three-tier membership program to allow more experienced members to assist in chairing meetings mentoring. Part of the push to form WYE came out of an agreement among entrepreneurs that although most students receive the assistance they need through their school, many graduates and non-students need a structured association. Cryer hopes to let the organization grow on its own after the foundation has been laid. “My dream for this project is that someday I will be a very small part of the group’s graduated alumni and that WYE will have a built a model business forum that can grow and be used to help young entrepreneurs across the country.” To learn more about WYE, and/or to become a registered member, visit www.wasatchyoungentrepreneurs.org East Canyon Open for Summer OGDEN - The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists that Big Mountain Pass (SR 65) through East Canyon from milepost 3 in Salt Lake County to milepost 13 in Morgan County is now “Top Producer” Awarded to Valley Realtor open for the summer season. Heavy snowfall on this mountain pass exceeds the Department’s capacity to clear and maintain it for travel during the winter months. Kris Wilson Congratulations and top honors go to Kris Wilson, Realtor for Mountain Valley Realty of Huntsville. She has been awarded the company’s Top Producer award for 2002. Kris is a Certified Relocation Specialist and a member of the Ogden Valley Business Association, Greater Ogden Association of Realtors, Utah Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors. She has been a realtor for over 25 years. When asked how she and her company compete with large nationally franchised real estate firms, Wilson answered, “Mountain Valley Realty was founded on quality of service, not the size of our sales force.
