The teams were supposed to have played a doubleheader. Little did they know, the rain had only prolonged the agony. It was like having surgery in two parts. Four Lehi pitchers, Kirk Brady, Rick Houghton, Mark Tuckett, and Tyler Smith, held Wasatch to three runs while the Lehi bats erupted for a big 21 runs. Lehi started off well, pushing across the first five batters in the lineup. Mark Tuckett started off with a walk and Dave Nattress followed r. with a single to Garth Fjellstrom then singled in a run and Mark Griffin doubled to make it Lehi then got a break as they registered four outs in a row, but 0 5-- 2, 3-- ! With the bases empty, Dave Nattress decided he wanted a piece of the action and hammered a 2 fastball for a double. Fjellstrom, Griffin and Fairebourne followed, with singles and Kevin Tuckett added his third double of the day to put the icing on the cake. Six of the nine Lehi starters had two hits with Mark Griffin and Kevin Tuckett getting three each. scored two more runs. Rick Roughton struck out but hustled to first when the ball scooted by the catcher. Wasatch then retired the side, giving up a sacrifice fly to Smith in the process. Wasatch was able to score twice in the bottom of the second on a single and four walks. In the top of the third, down only Wasatch had great hopes. Lehi took care of that, however, as they batted around, scoring nine runs and sending 13 men to the plate. Mark Griffin scored two runs in the same inning during the run parade and Kevin Tuckett rapped one of his three doubles to score a run. Mark Tuckett, Nattress, Griffin and Houghton also had hits that inning with Houghton getting two, a single and a triple.
