Show Gresn Rivirl Si A Letter from Pearl, lona and Barbara... WOMAN'S CLUB Green River Woman's Club met at the Senior Citizens Hall on Thursday with President Anderegg presiding. Several matters were discussed, among them the May Fair, which has been set for May 6. The May Fair will be held at the Senior Citizens Hall, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and a spaghetti lunch will be served from then until 1:00. There will be arts and crafts both displayed and for sale, as well as a bake sale. Mrs. Jo Baxter is in charge of the Art Exhibit, and Mrs. Phyllis Engleman and Mrs. Florence Howland are heading the food sale. Mrs. Ruth Trouth is in "charge of the spaghetti dinner, and the food will be cooked again this year at the Scott Anderson residence. Since the lunch was sold out early last year, it is proposed to double the recipe for this year. Election of officers for the coming two years puts Mrs. Florence Howland at the helm again, with Mrs. Phyllis Engleman as 1st Vice President, Mrs. Jo Baxter as 2nd Vice President, Mrs. Virginia Stephens as Secretary and Mrs. Helen Tidwell, Treasurer. Trea-surer. Mrs. Scott Anderson Ander-son was elected Club Woman of the Year because of her efforts to landscape the City Hall. Program for the meeting meet-ing was a travelogue by Mrs. Iona Ekker on her recent trip to Hawaii, which was beautifully done, and much -enjoyed by the group. Mrs. Lucille Silliman, Mrs. Dorothy Nelson and Mrs. Pearl Baker were hostesses, and served delicious refreshments. The next meeting, May 11, will .be installation of officers. NEW BABY Mr. and Mrs. George Weihing are the proud parents of a new daughter bom April 6 at Grand Junction. The little miss weighed in at 6-12 and was 19 inches long. She has been named Stacia. She didn't get a very good start and was in intensive care for a week, but is home now, and doing fine. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sherrill, and Mrs. Mamie Weihing. Mrs. Elvina Sherrill of Rnifley, Kentucky is great grandmother, also. The Weihings called son Cam in Johannesburg, Johannes-burg, South Africa to tell him about his new sister. Cam is filling a mission there. CASTLE COUNTRY BROCHURE Miss Janet Thomas spent a couple of days in town last week gathering material for a Green River area travel guide to be put out by Castle Country Travel Council. It has been decided to put out several self-guiding brochures bro-chures for the area, one for Goblin Valley and the Reef, one for Nine Mile, one for Price and Helper and one for Green River. These will be printed and will be offered as handouts hand-outs for the tourists during the coming season. Miss Thomas interviewed interview-ed Joe Baker on the river, Mrs. Pearl Baker on Robbers Roost, and spent one day with Tim Anderson Ander-son and Lowell Curtis, who have been putting together a brochure of this area. Friendship Cruise and Melon Day were featured in the publication, publica-tion, as well as various interesting places in and around Green River. Rock hounding, boating, horseback horse-back riding, backpacking and other activities were covered also. BUSLNESS MEETING Members of Beta Zeta recently met at the home of Judy Ann Scott for their April business meeting. The meeting was called to order by President Jolene Wright who introduced the Utah State President of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Jan Frisbey of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Frisbey traveled travel-ed to the area to visit several of the local chap- ters, in southeastern U-tah. U-tah. The group began making mak-ing preparations for their concession stand which they annually man at Mineral Canyon during the Friendship Cruise and reports were made on their concession stand they had during the local Trophy Shoot sponsored by the Gun Club. An educational program was presented by Norma Dean Weber, "Dreams," and was found to be most enjoyable and interesting. |
