Show Del Howard's Squad Will Play at Oakland Until Season Opens. BOYES HOT SPRINGS, March 22. Del Howard and his Oaks broke camp today and this afternoon the squad started for Oakland, whero they will make their headquarters until the season opens. Howard took the entire en-tire team with him so the task of cutting cut-ting down to tho proper proportions will take place on the home lot. Inasmuch as games are scheduled right through till the season opens, Del will need all the men at his disposal and changes in the personnel are not likely to be announced until some time next week. Tiny Goodbrcd, the giant pitcher, sent in word today that it would bo impossible for him to report at once. Tiny didn't give any reason for his failure to leave for California. Inasmuch Inas-much as his contract has been O. Kd, the bosses have it doped out as plain laziness. The first of the home camp games is set for Saturday afternoon with Rod Murphy's Marines. The boys will have two battles on Sunday and one on Monday, after which they will skip Tuesday as a. day of rest. Then they pick up the hard work for pre-season games until it's practically time to get into the harness for the pennant race. "Buz Arlett, the sensational youngster young-ster who recently signed with the Oaks, is not in the best of shape and will hardly pitch either Saturday or Sunday. |
