Shopper and merchant alike will be saved time ana effort when the new ration tokens go into circulation on February 2Y, F. M. Christensen, chairman of the local war toprice and rationing board, said day. Merchants, it is estimated, will be saved 53,000,000 and the handing of the 2,400,000,000 ration stamps monthly. In a recent test in Chicago, a line of shoppers using the new system moved past the checking point twice as fast as the line not using ration token change. "By remembering a few salient points," said the chairman, "the average shopper will have no trouble in becoming accustomed to the new system. First, beginning Feb. 27, all red and blue stamps in ration book four will take on a value of ten points, no matter what value they carry on their face. "Second, ration tokens will have a value of one point each and no expiration date. Red tokens will be used as change for red stamps and blue tokens for blue stamps." The green stamps in war ration book four, K,L and M, and the brown stamps in book three, X,Y and Z, both of which expire on March 20, will retain the value stamped on their face 8, 5, 2 and 1 points. Blue tokens will be given as change for green stamps and red tokens for brown stamps. After March 20, the food shopper will need to carry but one book. Ration books will last twice as long. The validity period for stamps will be approximately 12 weeks, thus reducing the possibility of shopping rushes. last-minu- Jack Shumway entertained members of her Bridge Club Friday night at her home.
