Yours truly volunteered to provifie the cake. place Friday, July 16, in the Logan LDS Temple. A reception will follow on Friday evening in the Lewiston 2nd Wan) from 7 to 9 p.m. All .Ha! I should know by now that my baking adventures turn into calamities when I do it for someone special or a church project. This time was no exception. The morning began quite calmly. How was I to know that before noon, I would have a tale to tell entitled, The Saga of the Cake." Upon arising I called to see if the activities were still going as planned. Assured that they were I proceeded to open, mix and bake the cake. After approximately 35 minutes and the cake had neither collapsed or burnt (like they usually do for special occasions) I felt that luck was with me lor a change. I made the frosting, and frosted it, another uneventful happening and proceeded to take it over to a friend who is a whiz at cake decorating. She painstakingly grew roses out of frosting and patiently wrote the sweet (literally) message. I grabbed the cake, and charged out to the car and couldnt believe how good the cake looked. . I squarely put the cake on the front seat and proceeded on my way. As I drove to my destination I kept a careful eye on the cake. One time I looked, just shortly after Id ' looked before and right there before my eyes the cake was disintegrating ! I mean the letters were scrambled like alphabet soup, the roses were sliding off the cake like lava out of a volcano and I died. Every time I looked down the scene got worse. Icing spreading out all over my seat, the cars seat, that is. I couldn't find anything to wipe up the mess so I tried to wipe it up with my fingers. Then my fingers heeded to be cleaned. It was ghastly. I finally had to buy a cake at a bakery. One hitch. I had them erase the Happy Birthday" the one that at that inscription and very minute was sliding onto the floor of my car. Until recently, (me had to know a lot about air conditioners to know the difference. Fortunately, there is now an easy, accurate way for you to compare the of units before buying. By determining each models Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER), you can compare the amount of electricity the different units consume. The higher the EER rating, the greater the energy efficiency t For example, a unit rated at EER 9.3 costs about a third less to operate than a unit with the same Btu cooling capacity but rated at EER 6. Energy-efficiemodels often cost a little more initially because their cooling mechanisms are usually larger and heavier. Their lower operating cost, however, will usually more than offset their higher original cost over the life of the unit. Computing the EER If a unit does not carry the guide label described above, its EER rating can be computed. You need to know its cooling capacity (Btus per hour), and the number of watts of electricity needed to operate it. Both these figures usually are printed on the units back panel. To find the EER, simply divide the Btus by the wattage: Degree Your dealer will calculate the EER of any unit for you. ;1 Bill's , EER 0.8--EE- R: Watte 9.3 7507,000.00 Example: Suppose the units cooling capacity is 7,000 Btus and its power rating is 750 watts. 0.750 2500 2250 2500 You would divide 7,000 by 750: nt William D.
