The Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, otherwise known as the Knights Templar, inducted five new members at an Investiture in San Mateo, CA on May 22. The five newest Templars are all Basin residents: Steve Pehrson, MD; Thomas Allred, MD and Michael Briggs, Rph were dubbed Knights while Cami Pehrson and Linda Briggs, RN were embraced as Dames ofthe Order. They are the charter members of the Commands ry of the Mountain of the House of the Lord, based in Roosevelt The Templars are an international society organized along military lines, with the purpose of promoting chivalry, charity and Christian service to others. The societys roots are found in a 12th century brotherhood of militant monks who protected pilgrims on the road to Jerusalem. Over the course of two centuries, and despite vows of poverty, the Templars became very wealthy and powerful. They did a lot of yard work and cut down a huge pine tree. Gayelynn Staser of Salt Lake spent an overnight stay with her parents Ray and Toni Gardner and took care of some business. Laurie Davis of Helper spent some time with her parents ElRay and Bonnie Duncan. During young Flynn's visit, Flynn rode horses, and helped with the cows. Ann Freston, Flynn's other grandmother, took Flynn back to Salt Lake, after his funfilled 4 days of being a little farmer. Although Templar membership ia strictly by invitation only, the Order welcomes all regardless of wealth, status or race. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Curry came home from St. George where they spent the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Brers ton of Heber spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jones and Mrs. and Mrs. Rabit Maxwell. Billy and Trudy, and Ray and Dixie went to Duchesne Saturday where Jenifer Smith daughter ofTodd and Christy Smith was baptized by her father Todd. They all went to dinner after at the home ofTodd and Christy. Those that were blessed in church Sunday were Stetson Kay, son ofEd and Angela Kay of Springville. Braxton Lefler, son of Mr. Jarrod Lefler, and Hanna Strebel, daughter of Jerry and Windy Strebel were blessed by John Lefler. Nigue Brown and Tyler Lund were married June 6, at the Willis Moons Ranch. A reception was held there after with a dance at the Town Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Strebel and daughter of Moab, spent the weekend in Tabiona visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ron Lefler and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Strebel. Also visiting were Jarrod and Mindy Lefler and family of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. John Patterson went to Ogden last week where John kept a doctors appointment. They also visited their daughter and family in Salt Lake. Brenda married Randy Baker, later divorced, Preceded in death by their son, Jaramy John Baker.
