Single runs were scored in the first and second to give the South a 0 lead. The North produced one run in the third to come within one at 1 and then the South went on to win by three. Dave Greeley of Dixie was named the MVP for the South with teammate Brent Guerisoli, first runnerup and Bear Rivers Brent Hawes second runnerup for the North. The South team used the same 1 score to defeat the North crew in a game that was also held in Ogden. State championship coaches from high schools throughout Utah were honored at the sixth annual Utah Banquet of Champions, Saturday on the Southern Utah University campus in Cedar City. They each won $75. Taking first place honors in the 1 p.m. Friday 7:30 session was the squad of Jake Harouney, Scott Danjg&field, Cory Wilson, Kevin Nitzel and Dana Christiansen at 75. They had a mark of 47 and shot scores of 7 for a 153 final tally. Gross winner in the Friday 7:30 1 p.m. session was tee crew of Kary Eldredge, Joe Myers, John Horn, Bart Butcher and Troy May at 121, They bad and won $50 each. Bolton was given the API Tournament award for being tee Best Dressed Golfer. Itis not known if Bolton was wearing a fancy outfit like that Payne Stewart guy on the pro golf tour or if he was playing the 61-6- 60-6- 3.
