Show EOT WATER TESTS mam m City Creek Canyon Supply Ig Almost Perfect, Says Bacteriologist. Completion of the bacteria, counts on water samples taken by Dr. Hurdle Lynch, city bacteriologist, from various points In City Creek canyon, show that stream to be almost perfect from the standpoint of germ contamination. Dr. Lynch completed tho counts yesterday, lie expressed himself aa agreeably surprised sur-prised at tho results. Tho wator samples were taken from eight portions of the canyon. Tho llrst was inkon at the Intake to tho new hiph line, the second at tho new high line rank and the third at the pool below tho new high lino. These samples were found to contain six, five, and 150 bacteria bac-teria to tho cubic centimeter, respectively. respective-ly. The fourth sample was takon from tho Intake to the old high lino and the llfth from tho old high line tank. These shovvod nlnn and sixty bacteria to tho cubic centimeter. The sixth, seventh and eighth samples were taken from the rwent nth ward tank, the Intake at the old brick tank and the reservoir at tho brick tank. They showed seven. ten and four bacteria count, respectively These counts aro so light front the bacteriological standpoint, savs Dr Lynch, as lo bo practically negligible. The test shows that City creek water Is as near perfect as It 13 possible- to obtain. ob-tain. Dr. Lynch will apply the same com-paratlvo com-paratlvo tests to the water of Parleys creel;. Emigration crock and Big Cottonwood Cotton-wood creek. He. proposes to obtain exact bacteriological data covering tho ontlro water supply of tho city and to discover where whatever contamination does exist comes Into the streams. |
