Show OUTCOME I D008T ST SATURDAY'S MEET University of Utah Not Likely Like-ly to Have Cinch of Former For-mer Years. OPPONENTS ARE STRONG Both Aggies and B. Y. U. Men Have Chance of Getting Get-ting First Honors. The annual Utah intercollegiate track and field meet will be 'held on Cummlngs Held Saturday. The schools which will be represented In tho big meet are tho University Uni-versity of Utah, the agricultlral college and the R. Y. U. It Is a rare thing for any of these schools except the state university to win, and usually the cast benchers get about half of the total number of points, dividing the remaining half about equally between the two other teams. Thus It has always beon that the real light In the meet Is for second place between the Aggies and the Provo men. This Is not so this year. The three track teams have Uocn scon in action already and they arc moro nearly equal in strength than has ever been true before be-fore In Utah. It Is true that tho red and white men have defeated both the H. Y. U. and tho Aggies In dual meets, but both victories were so narrowly gained that to say that Utah outclasses either of the teams would bo rash. It will be elitlrcly a matter of condition next Saturday ar. to which team wins the state meet, because if cither tho Ag-qles Ag-qles or the B. Y. L takes ono event which It is not conceded and Utah gets only those which It Is fair to concede to It now. Utah Is as likely to bo last as first- Hundred-yard Dash. The meet at Logan Saturday eliminated eliminat-ed one big sourco of fear for Utah, at least for tho present. It was thought that Peterson was a.s good a man aa there was In the state In the sprints and that he would run Travers and Hopkins Hop-kins of the varsity and Balrd of tho B. Y. U. hard for sprint honors. At Logan, though. Travers and Hopkins both beat him in the 100 The time was two-fifths of a second faster than the time In which Travers beat Balrd, though, so Peterson may have as good a race Saturday as Balrd did tho preceding pre-ceding Saturday. At all events, the four men named are about equally good and the one who Is In the best shape Saturday Sat-urday will tako the 100. However, as HopkJna and Travers are both Utah men. the chances of points In theso events look better for Bennion than for Roberts or Teetzol. The Aggie distance min proved as easy for Bennlon's long runners as did the B. Y. I", men, so there seems to be little doubt about that part of tne meet. Aggies Win Quarter. In the qna.rter-mlle. Utah was defeated. defeat-ed. This Js a race which has been conceded con-ceded to FTagcl of tho university all season sea-son and will go a long way towards upsetting up-setting figures In the next meet If the Aggies win again. Again In tho field events things look unfavorable for Utah. Richards of Provo Pro-vo Is sure to win a 1)Ig bunch of points from Utah, while It Is also possible that Snow of the A. C. will take several of tho points which Young and Lofgren won In thosp events from the B. Y. U. In tho hurdles tho fight will bo between tho Aggies and tho Provo men. as far as the high ones are concerned, but Hopkins looks like a winner In tho low hurdles. Taken all 5n all, a comparison of time and distances made this year would give a slight advantage to tho east benchers, but tho margin is so amall that one event may lose them the meet.
