Show BR BREVITIES ErIES major ma i or george W E dorsey is enthusiastic over the outlook for the galena king mine one of the great mines of the famous old camp of stockton and he seemingly has good reason to be as the property is opening up in a most gratifying manner and an earnest demand for the stock of the company is no ti cable and especially so in the east an order f from rom boston for the shares of tb the e association being filled on thursday of this week the investor stowing away shares for which he paid 50 cents a share manager B T lloyd of the old fred and sir victor mines in the sunshine end of camp floyd district who has just returned from an inspection of these two prospective active dealt states that both properties have been equipped with whims and that active work is being pushed in their development a contract for feet more of sinking having been let in the exploration of the sir victor which will take the shaft shaf t down to the level it is learned that the upper vein has already been penetrated in this ground about the first of the coming month the bingham bulletin will get out a special edition illustrative of the wonderful and varied of west mountain district the issue will be embellished with a correct map showing the location of all the patented claims of the district and with write ups of the leading mines of the camp besides v afi ch a competent geologist and mining I 1 man mil have a series of articles on the formation of that section J B graham the able editor of the bulletin intends that this shall be the best write up ever made of the district and when he starts in to do anything he generally succeeds there it goes the bor horseless seless carriage aint she a beamut what a show these and like exclamations greeted the appearance of the horseless carriage on the streets of salt lake for the first time on wednesday of this week and people flocked to the curb and rushed from their offices to see george airis go by in his new conveyance which like the electric street cars according to john chinaman had no horse no mule no no and yet went like bellee 11 the horseless carriage has struck salt lake and it was introduced by the son of one of the leading mining operators of the state so that it may justly be claimed that this is one of the results of successful mining ente enterprises r and mention of it a legitimate mining item and therefore entitled to space in tim THE MINING REVIEW of the horseless carriage more anon matt lyons the veteran miner and prospector who pins his faith to park valley minis mines in boxelder Box elder county was in the city last week taking a needed rest after a hard winter spent in the mountains of that section mr lyons is now hard bard at work in the development of the black hawk group of four claims in the exploration of which he has sunk a shaft on the ledtje ledgett led geto a depth i of feet or more mor e it being his intention to I 1 prosecute operations vigorously vigorous s ay this spring and coning coming summer mr lyons is heavily interested in the alice which recently formed the basis for an incorporated company the stock of bf which is being placed in the east to good advantage the alice is located but a short distance from the century gold mine and mr lyons states that it is is reported that some very gratifying disclosures have been made in this prospective bonanza of late fate the century will be able to boast of a new stamp mill early this season joseph E ray one of the pioneers of the buckskin mountains in the southern portion of the state and which extend over into arizona is now in that region preparing a shipment of copper ore for fo r the salt lake market the intention being to report here with the consignment on the or of this month mr ray and his associates are in on a fine group of copper producing claims in the locality mentioned and their ground embraces two distinct ledges one of which is a a blanket deposit while the other is a true fissure the former showing good zones of copper bearing rock while in the fissure there is a six foot body of solid shipping ore which will carry values ranging from 15 to 30 per cent in the red metal mr ray has had a force of four men at work in the development and exploration of this ground for the past three months and has a showing of ore which is most gratifying in the southern country there is is now great excitement over the buckskin mountains and min ing men are flocking to this new eldorado by the dozens and many valuable and promising locations are being made there |
