Show THE GOLDEN STAR ANNUAL the annual stockholders meeting of the golden star gold mining company was held in this city on the 3rd ard dinst the stock of the association being well represented either in person or by proxy the election held for the installation of anew a new board to serve for the ensuing year resulted as follows capt timothy egan patrick ryan eyan patrick conley E V duncan and J A ross in his report as to the finances of the organization secretary C E hudson stated that during the fiscal year the receipts from ore sales had amounted to and from other sources which added to the amount on hand band at last report made a total of from this expenses were paid as follows development supplies labor dividend paid jan 1 1898 2500 freight and hauling assaying and sampling cabin 33 title expenses or a total of leaving in the bank the sum of the mines output was pounds of ore or 93 tons and pounds which showed an average value of per ton mostly gold in his report M manager egan stated that a large amount of work had been executed during the year in the development of this valuable gold proposition and prospective gold mountain bonanza and that it is in excellent physical condition the captain making the announcement that according to an examination recently made of the mine by a well known mining expert it was estimated that in the workings of the property and on the dump all of in ore is in sight the intimation being given out that it is quite likely that a mill will adorn the property sometime during the present season the mill at the daly west mine at park city was started up on the first of this month the plant has a capacity capable of treating tons of crude ore daily and the company is now in position to make regular consignments consign ments of concentrates to the market besides which it will make heavy shipments of firt dass class ore using the old ontario drain tunnel as an outlet from the mine workings to the depot at the park it is understood that sam gilson the veteran mining operator is making arrangements to resume work in the operation of the buckhorn mine in dugway district the buckhorn discovered some seven or eight years ago by mr gilson was a phenomenal producer from the grass roots the rich ore for which the mine was so justly famous being actually quarried out the decline in silver and lead several years ago however and the long wagon haul baul to the railroad made further operations prohibitive and the mine was closed down now however with better prices for the metals it is believed that the buckhorn can be worked again at a profit in the same district there are other properties of merit some of which are now being worked by salt lake people |
