This job- is different from any other job you can have. Wc are under tremendous pressure; we have to react quickly; we have to make flawlea decisions. A lot of people dont have a due to what EMS service personnel do and how fir our services reach into the commu- u nity. Those are just a few of the questions the contestants at this years Kamas Wley Fiesta jays Rodeo Queen Contest had to answer for the Trivia part of the competition. It was added to this years contest for a little fen and to help achieve one of the origi- nal goals of the celebration, to increase knowledge of our commu CPfioto nity and the beautiful Uintah mountains. Nine contestants hit the books and the practice arena to help make this years contest a great one. Carrie Bone studied the hardest and came out the winner of the Trivia test, while Mardee Jones won the Trivia game. The new Royalty wu crowned later in the area a. They are: queen, Marie Blazzard, daughter of James and Kelly Blazzard; first attendant of Tie Wee Mark Blazzard; and Lacey Potter; daughter of Greg and Maye Potter, and second attendant, Brittani Woodard, daughter of John and Kim Woodard. Brittani wu also winner of the horsemanship award and Carrie Bone won the Miss Congeniality title. This years theme emphasizes how important our people have been to our success. Its an opportunity to uy thanks and to honor the outstanding efforts of our local EMS. Our local EMS will be doing several things in our community to celebrate EMS week this year. We will be hosting a coloring contest for elementary school kids in grades K though 2, and an esuy contest for grades 3 though 6. The winners will be given an escorted ride to school on the fire truck and will be able to ride on the fire truck during fire summer far one of the local parades. Elementary children will be given Volunteer Puppy Raisers Urgently Needed gift certificates if "caught being safe at school during this week Ws will be sponsoring medical ID cards for geriatric folks. The CNA class at the high school will be presenting g kits to each of the primary organizations in the valley. The CNA class will also be passing off their CPR certification as welL Tb end EMS week, we will be sponsoring an Ice Cream SodaT on Friday, the 22nd, at 7 p.m. for all EMS and few enforcement officers. During this social, we will be giving the first ever annual "EMT of The Year Award and Fireman of The baby-sittin- Canine for Companions (CO), a national non- profit organization which provides assistance dogs for individuals with disabilities other than blindness, is in need of volunteers to raise puppies.
