Show Tosco Corp. consolidates planning LOS ANGELES Tosco Corp., which owns or leases substantial oil shale deposits in Utah and Colorado, says it has laid off 63 employees in a further consolidation con-solidation of its oil shale activities. Tosco's Vernal field office will be closed clos-ed and its activities transferred to Colorado. Col-orado. Most of the employees affected are located at Tosco's Research Center in Colorado. "Our continuing Sand Wash oil shale project in Utah will not require substantial substan-tial field activity this year," said Morton W. Winston, president and chief executive ex-ecutive officer of Tosco. "This consolidation consolida-tion will facilitate our project planning and related activities." Tosco is one of the nation's largest independent in-dependent refiners, operating four petroleum refineries and related supply and distribution facilities in California, Oklahoma and Arkansas. The company also produces crude oil, chiefly by the application ap-plication of enhanced recovery techniques. |
