Show i Maria L Nielson Dies at Coast City Mrs. Maria Larson Nielson, a pioneer pion-eer woman of Gu,nnisp,n ajley, is dead at a San Francisco, Calif., hospital, hos-pital, according to a message received here Tuesday afternoon by relatives. Mrs. Nelscm died Tuesday morning t g o'clock, follpwing a long illness as a result of heart trouble. She left here some seven months ago, going I to the lower altitude on the advice of her attending physician. The dis-I dis-I ease, however, had gained headway I and her health gradually grew worse I until the end came. t is expected I that the tody will be brought to Gunnison Gun-nison for interment, Mrs. Nielson was fv native of Denmark, Den-mark, and was horn May 4, 1860. j When but three years of age, she with ! her parents, came to America, and I emigrated across the plains with ox ; teams. The family first settled in j Salt Lake, later going to Manti. For ' many years Mrs. Nielson was a resident resi-dent of the Gunnison Valley. Some forty years ago her husband died, , leaving the widow and several child-i child-i ren, She was a devoted member of the Mormon church and took an ac- tive part in the ward teaching and auxiliary work. She was a patient mother and was loved and respected by all who knew her. Mrs. Nielson is survived by three sons, Jlalph Nielson of Idaho, Leo Nielson of San Francisco, and who was with his mother when she was called, and James Nielson of Gold-field, Gold-field, and one daughter, Mrs. Hannah Han-nah DeMills of Clarion. Two sisters, Mrs. John P. Peterson of Gunnison, and Mrs. Chris. I. Christensen of I Salt Lake, and three brothers, Ola Larson, Niels Larson of Gunnison, and Joseph Larson of Oakley, Idaho, are also survivors of Mrs. Maria Nielson. |
