Show Il WORKING 001 1 ECHlflf PLAN Will Suggest Wider Use or Labor of State Institution Institu-tion Inmates. As a means of furthering the plans for economy in the state administration, State Auditor Joseph Ririe is working out a plan which he will submit to Governor Gov-ernor Bamberger within a short time, to utilize to a greater extent than ever in the past the labor of inmates of state institutions on state work. Auditor Ririe has developed a plan to call a meeting of all state officials and heads of state departments aud iu-stituUcr? iu-stituUcr? at quarterly periods, at which they will submit requisitions for all supplies that will be used in their departments de-partments in the succeeding three months. These supplies will then be purchased in sufficient quantities to meet all the needs of the various departments, de-partments, the state saving the margin between small-lot purchases and the lare-lot purchases. The officers and department heads will act in the capacity of a board of control, and will endeavor to effect savings sav-ings in every manner possible. It is believed by Auditor Kine that the saving sav-ing that can be effected in this way will amount to a large sum in the course of the biennium. As an example of the economy of buying in large lots. Auditor Ririe says that the state mental hospital hospi-tal authorities purchased two months ago at wholesale supplies of foodstuffs tGat could be turned over today at a profit of $1500. It is proposed to make this condition apply as far as possible to all other departments and institutions of the state. In carrying out his general' plan of economy. Auditor Ririe proposes that inmates of the various state institutions be emploved as printer? and ft-s bookbinders, book-binders, to supply the printed material and books that are required by the various va-rious state departments. |
