Show marine vet enters AF ogden air materiel riel area hill air force base utah pac ray N goodale son of mr air and mrs thomas IL goodale roy utah recently enlisted in the air force for three years it was revealed today by colonel frank D hackett hill ell AF base commanding officer he was assigned to squadron E the new pac served with the marine corps during the war during which tour of duty he be was wounded at iwo jima he served with the 3rd ard marine division pac goodale has been awarded the purple heart a presidential dental unit citation pacific theater ribbon with three battle stars and the victory medal pac goodale with his wife marion and son ray nel goodale live at BI 71 arsenal villa the oldest identical twins in the united states is the distinction held by mrs mary smith and mrs airs margaret lamb who this past sunday celebrated their anniversaries at an open house reception at the farmington ward amusement hall these twins have been spending the past three weeks at the home of mr air and mrs airs george robison in morgan they were born to evan and ann jenkins in council bluffs la ia in IS is and crossed the plains with their parents at the age of three arriving in the salt lake valley in 1661 the jenkins family settled in farmington in 1878 mary married william lott smith and lived in morgan for some time later moving to parker I 1 idaho d aho the couple had seven children mr smith died in december 1927 for the past five years mrs airs seith has made her home in san leandro cal with her daughter and son in law mr and mrs airs T D phillips who were also former residents of morgan county having made their home in porterville mrs airs smith now has IS grandchildren 47 great grand children and two great great grandchildren margaret married alfred M lamb in ISSO and they made their home in in farmington Farming top they also had s seven 6 venc children hiedi e n mr ali lamb passed away in 1931 1031 in parker idaho mrs lamb has divided her time living in both heber and morgan with her daughters she has 14 grandchildren and 21 great grand children she is now living with her son in law and daughter mr air and mrs george robison Ko bison at the open house reception mrs airs smith and mrs lamb were seated before a huge basket of rosebuds and between them was an enormous birthday cake decorated with pink rosebuds with the names mary and margaret written upon it approximately guests passed before the ladies greeting them with good wishes people came from as itar ar as northern idaho soo HOO miles away to be present on that day others came from all over the state and from california they received cards gifts and flowers refreshments were served to the guests arrangements were u under n d er di direction r e c 0 of f a g grandson r of alave aill M mrs r s sm smith i t h laverl r 1 S smith mi t h of ogden and mrs airs george robison musical numbers were given ly by david hughes and lloyd hess who sang old songs and accompanied themselves on their guitars and a grand niece miss ruth walker sang a number of beautiful old songs the famous twins will part saturday when mrs smith will return to her home in san leandro both ladies were none the worse for their exciting and strenuous birthday party and all their friends including the morgan county news wish them many more happy birthdays and hope they will be with us for many years to come |
