J Springville Firemen By Eva M. Crandall I didn't hear the music play, When heroes came 'across my way i In a chariot of red, 1 With a flaming helmet On each head. I only heard the siren shriek, The falling beams and rafters creak, While the devastating fire Tried to rob my heart's desire A shelter for my brood. True heroes they in every deed Anszvering the direst need Men of courage swift and sure, Never once a doubting lure Can swerve them from a duty. Brave Firemen! Noble Crew! My deepest gratitude renew, Each year, each day, each hour, And give to you an unseen power To quench the ever rising ire Of destruction to fond hopes. May you find appreciation For your zvork and for your station; May the debt of gratitude Be paid by kindly attitude. So when the heat and scars and burns Give to you their just returns. The joy of service given you'll know That prayers to heaven Are ascending to earth. MRS. TEW SPEAKS AT MAPLETON RELIEF SOCIETY Mrs. Wm. T.
