1IANTI MATTERS There will be a mass meeting of the Peoples party this evening for the purpose of electing delegates to the different conventions con-ventions to ba held here Mr N P Madsen whose wife died while he was absent on a mission to Denmark returned home on Thursday evening Mr Sandford Forbush is lying seriously ill and has been for somo time past Henning Madsen was fined in the sum of fifteen dollars for appropriating more than his share of water out of the creek Manti is well supplied with dentists at present Mr O H Bird of Nephi is located lo-cated at the Temple Bazaar also Mr Stacey late of San Francisco holds forth at the Bench house They report business as being very brisk in their line especially Mr Bird who seems to be somewhat I crowded IOn I-On Thursday a Sunday school jubilee was held in Manti the schools of Ephraim Sterling and Manti taking part in the pro gramme of the day The different schools formed in line and marched to the residence of Superintendent J Maiben on reach which thesuperintendencyof thestake ing fdcetuc gtet accompanied i ebp President Petersen and Bishops W T Reid and Hans Jensen joined in tho procession and countermarched counter-marched to to the tabernacle where a very good programme was carried through two sessions being held The party held in the Council house on Thursday night for the benefit of the North Ward primary associotion was a grand success Besides having an excellent excel-lent programme of dances a new departure was taken The room upstairs had been arranged for the dispensing of refreshments refresh-ments to those participating in the dance and Mrs Jakcman with her fortune teller contributed to the amusement of those present as well as aiding in raising means for the association Great credit is due the ladies for their successful efforts in such a worthy cause The Young Mens Mutual Improvement association conference convened on Saturday Satur-day and Sunday last The stake presidency presi-dency of the association were in attendance attend-ance The sessions although not largely attended were very interesting During the afternoon session on Sunday the general gen-eral as well as the stake officers of the association as-sociation were presented and unanimously sustained July 118S9
