Show A GOOD MOVE. On the evening of Monday, November 24, a meeting was held in the Fourth Ward school house of "Logan, by many of the prominent citizens, for the purpose of organizing the Logan Manufacturing and Mercantile Institution." Bishop T. X. Smith was elected chairman and T. W. Holland, secretary of the meeting. The books being opened, several persons signed the articles of association and subscribed for stock-the amount taken on that evening being $1,603. The election of directors then took place, and the following named brethren were sustained in the positions: Thos. X. Smith, C. B. Robbins, ?? ?? Ricks, G. L. Farrell, Wm. Hyde, A. Crockett, Hans Anderson, and John A. McAlister. A meeting of the directors followed, at which the offices were filled as given below: Thomas X. Smith was elected president; G. L Farrell, secretary; C. B. Robbins, treasurer. The objects of the company are expressed in the name. The capital stock consists of $10,000-divided into 2,000 shares of $5 each. Subscriptions for stock will be received by the secretary, Elder George L. Farrell; and we earnestly recommend that all the Saints interested in their own and the public welfare, should take shares in the association. |
