Show w nw. IA .v- ' j American Heritage School plans Yule program The public is cordially invited to attend. There is no admission charge. Each December, sometime during the third week, American Heritage School presents its annual Christmas Concert, a memorable event for families, alumni, and friends of the school and this year the Christmas Concert will be presented on December 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Timpanogos Stake Center, 800 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove. As school begins in September so do preparations for the concert. Kay Asay, the Choral director at the school, auditions each student and assigns them a section in the choir. She determines each student's vocal range and quality. Soon some of the Christmas pieces are introduced. This year Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols were among the first introduced. Students are expected to memorize words and music within a few weeks. American Heritage School strives to teach good values to its students and this is certainly reflected in the music program. Miss Asay feels that teaching the students the value of good music both by exposure and participation is one of the main objectives in having a Christmas concert. She says that the students deserve to learn and sing the great music of the masters. The concert is a combination of narrative, instrumental, in-strumental, and choral renditions, commemorating com-memorating the birth of the Savior. Aaron Card will narrate the program. There will be special string numbers and some vocal solos. Especially remembered and traditionally anticipated an-ticipated are the an-tiphonal an-tiphonal numbers sung by the choirs. Mrs. Adeline Johnson will accompany the choirs. |
