favorable fa-vorable to the miners With the exception ex-ception of n few men at scattering mines the only miners at work were I those of the Now York and Cleveland I GasCoal company and the Canonburg Coal company In fact the suspension of the mines is most complete A meeting of the first pool miners was held last night and they decided to join the strikers The result Is the mines are practically closed today I only a fen men being at work These are under contract and the 10 per cent of their earnings have been retained since the first of the year to be forfeited in the event of their failure to keep their contract Although these men could not be brought out and the fact that they have decided to quit has had effect ou others to join them ThePan handle miners also met and decided to throw down their tools in ten hours after af-ter the first pool diggers quit work These men are also under contract The Beadllng men have also decided to quit I is said that arrangements have been made for a demonstration at Gastonville and Snowden tonight A brass band has been engaged and It is reported a march will be made to the mines I the programme is carried out there will likely be trouble The Shaner diggers on the Baltimore Ohio railway have decided to return to work They mine coal for the eastern east-ern market and claim they will not be benefittod if the strike is either won or lo The miners of the Yough Coal company I com-pany are meeting at Scottdale today They are working under a verbal contract con-tract at CO cents and quit when the general order was issued Nearly 2000 men are employed at these mines and i is said they are anxious to return to work I President Dolan went to Scottdale this morning and will endeavor to keep the men in Imp for the 69cent rate A number of coal
