Most do very well in meeting the first two responsibilities, and many do very well in serving their church and their God. Most people today and throughout history however, , take little interest in how their country is being run, except perhaps, to vote. Communist leaders have told us they expect to "bury us." Lenin said some forty years ago, that "they would not have to fight the United States, that last great bastion of Capitalism, because it will fall like over ripe (rotten) fruit into our hands. Most Americans can't seem to realize that we are in a death struggle with a force which has vowed to destroy us. Communist victories thus far have .been won by default because too few of us understand the nature of tyrants, their desire for power, and their methods of subjugation and en- slavement. Ezra Taft Benson said that in the battle against Communism he felt "that The John Birch Society was the most effective organiza- h tion," which is fight to preserve the freedom we enjoy under the Constitution. thinkContrary to popular ing, the John Birch Society never attempts to do anything which is not morally right. President McKay of the L.D.S. Church had his secretary write a letter which was inserted in the Congressional Record August 6, 1963. In this letter he stated, "members of the church are free to join anti - Communist organizations if they desire and their membership in the church is not jeopardized by so doing. The church is not opposing the John Birch Society or any other organization of like nature, however, it is definitely opposed to anyone's using the church for the purpose of increasing membership for private organizations sponsoring these various idealogies." with For all people open minds, the Brigham City Chapter of the John Birch Society is sponsoring a movie and lecture about itself Friday, September 24th at 7:30 p.m., at 628 So. 6th E., in Brigham City. Those who attend will be favored to hear Mr. Garn Lewis, the Utah for the Society. who Anyone cannot make this meeting is invited to phone for 3 literature and information.
