Show CIO —The Herald Journal Logan Utah Sunday June 10 2001 i Silver Beovors “ I u ' The Silver Beaver Award was established in 1931 and is service to people within a local Boy Scouts of America Council It is the highest award which may be presented by local council A recipient must be a regis--: tered adult member of the Boy Scouts of America Annually volunteers nominate men and women who are doing an outstanding job as Scouters for theJSilver Beaver Award The most outstanding men and women are selected to receive' this special recognition The following people have received the Silver Beaver award this year counselor and by volunteering to drive boys to summer camp and camporees She has loved Scouting all her life by Watching her fiuher’s example of service as Scoutmaster and ' Explorer Leader in their ward when she was young' Camping was part of their life dur-in- g the summers because they would try out the camping places that her father planned for the Scouts Leon Badger has served in various posi- - tionsinnis 14-pl-us years of involvement in the Bdy Scouts of America including Pack Babcock Warren Babcock has served as an den leader 11 year old Scout leader Scoutmaster Pow Wow Staff as Charter Representative Troop Committee Chairman Assistant District Commissioner and has more than 19 years of service to Scouting He has attended Woodbadge and earned His Woodbadge beads He is die father of two sons and two daughters He is an avid genealogist and enjoys researching his Assistant Scoutmaster Scoutmaster Explorer Advisor and Assistant District Chairman He has earned the National Presidents Scoutmaster Award of Merit Scouter’s Training Award Cub Scouter On My Honor and the District Award of Merit He served as Scoutmaster for the National Jamboree in 1993 and was a Jamboree Council Committee member for 1997 Leon is the proud father of two sbns and one daughter He is one of die Boy Scout Camp Visitation ' Specialists visiting summer camps for the Council ‘ Bird time working as CubmaSter Scoutmaster Explorer Leader Member of the Committee Charter Representative and now as part of the Old District! Hehas received the District Award of Merit Woodbadge Beads and his Eli Gavel He is the father of two sons and three daughters He served as President of WBBA baseball for thirteen years helping young boysnd girls have the opportunity to learn and play baseball Doug is very gifted in reaching out and hoping and teaching oth-- ' era He has served for twenty-- : five phis years in many leadership positions He has taught snorxeling at Cub Scbut Swim Days for 15 years He can be found volunteering to go with many different scout groups Binggeli know more about than Warren has served unceasingly and oftimes in the background on both Cub and Boy Scout levels He continues to assist in several capacities on the Old Juniper District Roundtable Stiff working with Commissioners Douglas Bud has served ids ‘ Janet Binggeli has worked for more than 16 years in Scouting as Assistant Cub Master a membetof tbePack Committee on Train the Trainer Staff as a Cub Scout Trainer Cub Roundtable Staff and as a Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner She has worked on District Day Camp Staff for the Old Juniper District and is now working as the Secretary for die Key 3 of that district She has served the youth in Cubs and Scouts by being a den leader for many years first aid merit badge Bright Dale Bright has more than 25 years of service He lms been a Webelos Leader Cub Committee Chairman and Dm Leader On Cub-mast- er dm District ' level he has worked as Cub Roundtable Commissioner Cub Activities Chairman Cub EjyCamp Stiff and as a 1 ' Webelos Leader IVainer He j has earned the Cub Master Award Scouter' Training Award Woodbadge beads and the District Award of Merit He has a great gift in being able to assess the needs of omen and to help in filling those needs He hu no inhibitions in donning a caveman costume or a dodibr’s uniform or anything to liven things up ' and help everyone go awsy with a chuckle and a smile on his face And when the party’s over he’s still there helping with the'dean-u- p often dm first to arrive dm last one to leave Butterfield Neil Butterfield has held a Post Advisor Cubmaster Wfebelos Leader orithe Troop Committee as Pack Committee Chairman and now as a member of the '' Trapper Trails Council Executive Board He was in Executive with tim Boy Scouts of America for 36 years and has been a registered Scouter for 55 years Neil was Scout Executive of the Cache Valley Council when dm merger created the new Trapper Trails Council He was active in Scouting as a youthand earned the Explorer Ranger Award He attended V-- i - i : b?
