Russon, a recently returned re-turned missionary, was without cause or provocation brutally assaulted by young ruffians at his own home, and Whereas, sufficient ovldenco could have been adduced to provo 1st. That an assault was made; 2d. That ono of tbo partv making tho assault left hia hat oh tho scene ; 3rd. That by tbo ownership of tbo I hat and other evidence the identity of t the assailant could have boan established, and Whereas, tbe guilty parties have not been brought to justice, wf, tho undersigned under-signed returned missionaries, protest against the action of tbo parties who are responsible for a non conviction and ask for a thorough investigation by your Honor because wo as representatives of the'pcoplo of Lehi in the mission field have been under be necessity of refuting refut-ing stories of such outrages many tiines J.
