While no, casualties have been recorded in the rush for cpmmercial stocks and bonds this week, ' there is a noticeable improvement in the market. With no election to distract them the folks with money are again reaching out after permanent investments. in-vestments. Among these Consolidated Wagon preferred and the sugars have been in favor. Sales are recorded of the Wagon stock, Idano and Utah Sugar preferred and some bonds. Those who are on the inside look forward' confidently to a fairly brisk market throughout the holiday season. If ,i .their anticipations are realized the Christmas trees and the stockings in front of the- fireplaces will 1 'groan under their load of industrial securities. The advance in silver has added immensely to the intrinsic value of Utah mines, and, if it 'continues, is sure to raise the level of prices for .stocks of the silver producers. Both lead and copper have shared in the strength of the metal market. The advance seems to be due to legiti- , mate demand, and, for that reason, it not likely i, BINGHAM. The Denver syndicate headed by John C, Montgomery has surrendered its $750,000 bond on the property of the Ohio Copper company. The mine is paying off the debt incurred by the construction of its new mill at the rate of $10,000 a rhbnth, and has a great quantity of unmined ore in sight.-The district court holds that Michael Foley et al. have no rights in the Lady Franklin claim of the Niagara company or the Arbitrator and Saunders No. 2 claim of the U. S. Mining company. On the 800 level of the Mayflower claim of the Fortuna the management has did closed two and a half feet of ore that will average aver-age 9 per cent copper, besides carrying gold and silver values. .Connection with the ore body was made in the No. 6 raise. Traffic Manager Eccles of the American Smelting & Refining company had a conference this week with representatives, of the Utah Copper and Boston Con. companies in relation to track service for the works at Garfield Gar-field and the details of the townsite. .Definite arrangements have been concluded by which the Rio Grande is to deliver the Bingham ores to the plants. TINTIC. That the Ridge & Valley company is about to begin work on its Tintic holdings through the-shaft the-shaft of the Gemini is the most important news of the week locally. .Territorially, the Ridge & Valley is the largest proposition in the district, and it is said that some of the richest veins in the Gemini run over the side lines into the Ridge & Valley ground. .Knowing this, the Gemini stockholders stock-holders have been actively buying in the shares of the other company. Lower Mammoth's crosscut cross-cut on the 1,500 level, which was said last week to be on the edge of an ore body, has gone several feet without producing the expected results, and the superintendent admits that some little work is still necessary to cut the vein. Seven to nine dollar ore is still being broken in the south drift on the west fissure. Last week the mines of the district shipped 149 cars of ore. .The Centennial furnished forty-seven and the Gemini thirty-five cars. The Dragon Iron mine in the south end of the district is in operation after a year of idleness, and the output will be about 150 tons a day. The Brooklyn Con. at Silver City shipped two cars last week. Lessees on the Eureka Hill group have marketed 600 tons from the supposed refuse. Godiva's new mill will be running in about ninety days. Another shipment from the Beck tunnel is promised for this week. PARK CITY. Directors of the Mt. Masonic Mining Co. have decided to buy a compressor plant and hoist to follow fol-low up the development of the ore body found' in .ft..., , ... . . .. t . The certainty that the Ontario and Daly-- ffl West will be completely drained in a month has had an excellent effect in stimulating work and in- vestments in this camp. October statement of ttfe HH Daly-West gives the total receipts at $132,063.76; fll disbursements $61,120,86; net earnings, $70,- 942.84. This flattering report acted like dynamite on the Boston exchange and sent the stock soar- ing from $16.75 to $21.50 in one day. A force of twelve men has been put to work on the Creole , property. The upraise from the 700. level of te f Little Bell is in ore, but has not yet reached the I contact, which is a distance of forty or fifty feet above. 7 |
