Show SOUTHWESTERN UTAH LEAGUE BASEBALL SEASON STARTS SOON It won't be long now before the Southwestern Utah Baseball league games will get under way. This year's schedule, according to Bill Thomas, president of the league, will consist of ten games. Five at home and five away. The schedule is divided into two halves and the winner of the first will play off with the winner win-ner of the second half, providing that one team doesn't win both. The league games start June 2 with St. George playing at Mil-ford. Mil-ford. At a recent meeting, held in Cedar City, a new secretary and president were elected for this season. Bill Thomas, manager of the local team received the appointment as president and Reed Anderson as secretary and treasurer. Each team, or town, was to appoint one man who would make up the board of directors. Those picked by the various groups are: William A. Firmage, Beaver; Ray Garner, Parowan; Stan McKnight, Min-ersville, Min-ersville, and Reid J. Money, Ce dar City. This year will see Parowan. a new team in the league, crossing bats with the other teams of this district. The Lions club is the live group to back the team in that community. The News reporter notices that W. Warner Mitchell, editor of the Parowan Times, is also giving considerable support through the columns of his paper. The local team has had a little the edge on the other clubs in that they have been able to practice for several weeks before the others. Whether this will mean anything in the long run is only conjecture at this time. The other teams -state that they are going in for young er players mis year wiui uiu idea of building for the future. This would be in line with the policy of the local team since this is what they did and are now doing.
