Fillmore Elementary Chipmunks on the go Beth DNES Kdgt students at the South Tract farm of Earl and Lilac Hulin Holman Students visit farm DNES kindergarten students spent a school day at the Earl and Lilac Holman farm on April 19 1990 The students from Mrs George’s Mrs Jensen’s and Mrs Bliss classes gave the Holmans a thank you poster and a rose bush in recognition of their many years of hosting the kindergarten classes at their farm The students always have a fun time at the farm with all the pigs horses and the milk cow to see The highlight of the trip is the rock collection each child receives from “Grandma Holman" and the whole event is finished off with refreshments again compliments of Grandma Holman Mrs Holman can’t remember exactly how many years she’s been having the kindergarten children come to her farm but she estimates it's around twenty When asked how they stay so young Mrs Holman replies “Earl and I decided long ago that we would be happy" This certainly has worked for both of them and their enthusiasm rubs off on the fortunate kindergartners who visit their farm Melissa Dastrup FMS Jump Jump Jump! You are never too old or young to jump the rope The Delta South Elementary First The Jump through Fourth Grades were alive and jumping this past Thursday morning for your Heart was observed with about 500 students taking part Both students and teachers got into the act Mrs June Reid a teacher in our district a few years ago was substituting for us and she enjoyed sharing her talents Mrs Reid says “Be happy keep jumping" Several students from Fillmore Middle School won awards at the Regional Science Fair held April 10 in Cedar City Beth Hulin won the Utah Veterinarian's Auxiliary Award and placed second for the Outstanding Women’s hibit Award in the junior division for her project entitled “Doe Your Horse See Color?" Melissa Dastrup won the American Dental Society Award for her project on the abrasiveness of tooth AHA PTA reflections contest winners On Thursday April 19 1990 four Delta North Elementary students were Contest held recently recognized for their participation in the Regional Reflections The four winners are: Chase Christensen first grade student of Sharon Judd Kim Wood third grade student of Tanya Robinett Marisha Corey third grade student of of Ephra Wilcox Tanya Robinett and Cynthia Losee third grade student Each winner received a blue ribbon for their efforts Both Marisha and Chase had music entries Cynthia’s entry was in visual arts and Kimberly s entry was in “jn t Hg PTA sponsors annual health fair The Delta North Elementary PTA another very successful sponsored Health and Safety Fair this year This year's fair coordinated by PTA Commissioner Julie Hobson was held on Friday April 20 1990 Students were instructed in safety and health measures by experts in the field Teachers students and fair presenters all commented positively abcxit the days events Fair participants included: Woodsy Owl from the US Forest Service Ruth Hansen on Poison Control Kathy Nielson and Paula Larsen on General Health Persona Hygiene Sheila McCann from Dr Losce's Office on dental care Julie Lovell for playground safety Teresa Hostetler for personal fitness Morris B urton on pedestrian and bicycle safety Patricia Rich on car safety Deb Anderson and Judy Hoelzle on Nutrition Steve Allred for water safety Sandra Christensen Phyllis Wally Wright Burras ton and Karen Curtis for the Ambulance and Arlane Johnson John Lightner and Robert Finlinson for bus evacuation We extend our sincere appreciation to students teachers and fair presenters for an exceptional day of education We remind and encourage everyone to practice safe health practices DNES thanks Mrs Marvel Clayton During a recent visit with Mrs Marvel Clayton Principal Scott Bassett learned that she had been collecting Campbell Soup product labels since her Portia Clayton was in granddaughter elementary school Portia is now a junior in high school!
