Show INDIAN WAR VETS AS IN REUNION RE UNION attendance but feasting and entertainment large PERRON utah jan 9 hobt strayed or stolen one comrade M E J and one fine program any information leading to the recovery of same will be gratefully received J S the annual re union of the utah indian war veterans of emery and car bon is now a matter of 1 astory fer ron entertained the comrades most roy ally last friday and saturday corn rades and visitors from other settle ments were somewhat scarce to be sure but then we had a good time and dian didn t suffer much with that lonesome feeling our dance was simply immense and interspersed with refreshments cider and songs it would have done your heart good to see the old folks go to it but we want to see greater interest aroused for these re unions and catch the eye of ducle sam the old veter ans who bore the brunt of conquering the murderous and pilfering savages and making our now beautiful and peaceful utah habitable for an matelli gent and industrious race are certainly deserving of substantial recognition from the government the original program did not put in an appearance and had it not been for the fertile brain of adjutant A P johnson and some others we might have been up a stump the people of ferron were equal to the occasion in helping out m the exercises and provid ing food and shelter for the visitors joseph S barney acted as master of ceremonies assisted by captain behun mm adjutant H hansen chap lain J hitchcock councilman ezra funk and others following is the pro gram S ng ng hansen and company prayer chaplain J C H ock Singing Hansen and company exper enee carol ne behunin song john rhodes Experience Adjutant H hansan instrumental select on rob johnson speech lyman beach song mrs L az e barney experience mrs collard song john henr e exper ence comrade jasper Song Adjutant A P johnson mue exper ence comrade collard bongers bong Mrs conover speech shop N beal mental M as ruby funk ong Joseph hansen lalk joseph wrigley Song Mrs dan el henr e speech J D apack ng ng Company on chapla n J hitchcock proceed were also interspersed w h m s by the martial band CASTLE DALE utah jan 10 on sunday last those who attended the re union of indian war comrades at ferron on the ath and ath were seen wending their way homeward through the blizzard all talk of a time of re joicine and all say the visiting was first class and the preparation made for the reception was of the best eatables of every description were plentiful two days and nights the big new hall was full of people both old and young there were three good pro grams and two dances the only re geets were that there were a number of the comrades who failed to put in an appearance especially the officers of the association both the commander and vice commander were absent which seemed to throw a damper on the whole affair for a while when tant johnson put in an appearance though late things began to liven up and the result was one of the best vis parties that ferron had enter tamed for years A number of corn plaints were turned in because the of bleers were absent the people feel that the leaders should be on hand to make a success of such githen the bishops of both and mol en were there and offered many wel come words to the visitors and seemed to enjoy the gathering as much is any of those from other place thes affair was a success as far as ferron was con ernal n t k A there was considerable talk about a better time of year to hold the re un ion they had tried it when the roads were soft and then made a change for hard roads and still the corn plaints were about the same one was the roads were too soft the other roads too hard so johnson tried to strike a medium between the two but finally concluded that the weather was unmanageable and we would have to take it as we could get it and those who did not come would miss the enjoyment and those present would be without their society and therefore no time was set for the next gathering |
