Show Naval Aviation Expansion Announced Utah in July will become a training train-ing ground for young Navy fliers under a vast aviation expansion nrneram announced bv Lieutenant Commander E. H. Walter of San Francisco, senior member of the naval aviation cadet selection board for the Twelfth naval district. The Navy will work in cooperation cooper-ation with the civilian pilot training train-ing program in utilizing ' strategically strategic-ally located CUT training schools established in Salt Lake City, Logan, Provo, St. George and Cedar City, and other cities of the state to supply primary and secondary sec-ondary ground instruction for Utah men accepted as naval aviation cadets. Applicants for Naval aviation training must be 18 to 26 years of age and unmarried; United States citizens with at least a high school education and able to pass normal physical tests. Application should be made at the nearest Navy recruiting station and if application is made within the next three weeks the applicant will be interviewed and given physical tests in Utah, since a traveling aviation cadet examining board will be in the state for several weeks. If accepted, the applicant will be enlisted as .a second class seaman sea-man at a pay rate of $54 per month and assigned to a C 'P T school. At the Utah schools men will be given primary and, in some cases, secondary training. In case the applicant is .a full-time student the government will supply sup-ply subsistence, including housing. Upon successful completion of the C P . T courses. . the cadet goes on to a pre-flight school in California, then on to advanced training, bases with an ensign's commission upon graduation. The pay of an ensign, plus allowances and flight pay, totals about $245 per month. |
