Show Farmers Advised To Use Logs and Poles forGranaries ; Farmers near enough to lorests ' were advised this week by Joseph Skeen of Ogden, member ol the Utah State AAA committee, to get out their own logs and poles to build needed storage bins. He painted out that this would be the releave for the demand 00 lumber. He states that logs and poles ' can be used for studdings, raft. ers and sills in new structors and that such use would release that much more lumber for war Indus- try construction where such sub-' stitutuions are not possible. To save tires and trucks where ' poles have to be hauled any dis- tance, Mr. Skeen suggested that farmers make up neighborhood pools. The local forester can give necessary information on wherel such timber can be obtained, he1 said. Calling attention to the seriousness ser-iousness of the grain situation, he said, it means that "farmers will not be able to harvest their crops as usual." The loading ol grain cars to be sent to the Ogden Og-den terminal will this year be on a permit system if present plans are put into effect |
