Show 0 parties divide honors in tuesday s election republicans elect mayor and recorder democrats win all council counci positions and treasurer post in close contests honors were divided between the two political parties in tuesdays municipal election here with a slightly heavier vote being cast than is usual at such an election much scratching was evident anti anil contests comparatively close in most instances arthur joseph republican nominee for mayor won over ivan decker the democratic choice for this office by twenty two votes and samuel J whitney present city recorder running on the same ticket with joesph won out over jed orton democrat by the slim margin of fourteen votes vote the rest of the offices went to the democrats with L J adams winning over joseph P F holyoak in the 4 year councilman race ray II if adams taylor miller and walter C mitchell beating leonard evans jess guymon and david richards for the 2 year council mens I 1 posts and richard M benson defeating minnie L orton for the position of city recorder adams won over holyoak by an even fifty votes for 4 year yea r councilman and benson got 43 more votes than mrs orton for recorder the closest race in the short term councilman group was between miller and guymon with the former winning by nine votes ray adams polled the heaviest vote of any nominee on either cither ticket the vote for the nominees according to unofficial figures are as follows decker joseph L J adams holyoak rhadames RH R H adams evans miller guymon mitchell richards J orton whitney benson M orton |
