Maple Mountain Fastpitch Clinic On Aug. 5 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Mapleton Fields, 1900 South, 800 West, Mapleton, a Maple Mountain fastpitch clinic will .be held for ages 13-18, This camp is highly recommended for those who are looking to try out for the high school team in the future. There will be fantastic instructors who are currently playing ball all over the state. The cost is $30. The girls will also be receiving a Maple Mountain t-shirt. Salem Rec. Notes: football, Softball 2nd Grade Flag Football Salem Parks and Recreation will offer a 2nd grade intro to (flag) football league. This league will be for boys and girls going into the 2nd grade. The league will be set up with a goal of teaching football skills and philosophy. Teams Will play games twice a week, Wednesday and Friday evenings. Prior to each game a skills work out will take place for 10 minutes. Workouts will be focused on catching, throwing and flag pulling. Youth from outside of Salem may sign up for an additional $5. Cost for this league is $25 if paid prior to Aug. 7, 2009. A $10 late fee will be charged after the 7th. Volunteer coaches are needed. ball will be played Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Young ladies are allowed to play flag football. Sign up at the Salem Recreation office today. Early deadline is July 23. Team organization will take place the second week of August so sign up today. Youth Tackle Football Salem boys entering 6th grade should sign up now. Salem Recreation is hoping to have enough boys in each grade (6th, 7th and 8th) to enter two teams in each division of the Nebo Football Conference. This program begins with Tackle Football Camp, July 28 (for two weeks) and then breaks up into team practices the second week of August. Games will be played Tuesday, WednesSalem Youth Flag Football Boys entering 3rd grade up days and Saturdays starting to 6th grade may sign up now. the end of August. The season Flag football camp will be held will conclude the 2nd week of Aug. 3-7. Games for flag foot- October. This is a great league for all football players. There is no need to find a Super League Team; the Nebo Conference has plenty of competition with teams form Salem, Pay son, Spanish Fork and Springville. Salem Days Coed Softball Tournament. Come be part of the Salem Days festivities, Thursday, Aug. 6 and Friday Aug. 7,2009 in the evenings. Cost is $150 per team. Final day to register is Aug. 3 by noon. This will be a three games guarantee tournament. Salem Adult Coed Softball There is still room for five teams in the adult coed league. Games will be played Wednesday evenings at Loafer View Park. Cost per team is $350 for up to 16 players. A $5 nonresident fee will be charged for players who do not live in Salem City. A mandatory team representative meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 8 at Loafer Park scores tower. For more info call Salem Recreation, 801-423-1035. Fall Salem pee-wee tennis This program is set to introduce and teach the skills of tennis to youth, kindergarten to 6th grade. Skill development will be the main focus while rules and game format are taught. Two age based classes will be offered; K to 3rd grade and 4th to 6th. Equipment (balls and youth racquets) for this program will be provided by Salem Parks and Recreation. This session will be held Aug. 17-28,2009 after school. Early sign-ups will be until Aug. 10, 2009. After the 10th a $10 late fee will be added. Space is limited in this program.
