SFHS distance specialist Spencer Hanson won this year's race. His father, Carl Hanson, came in third. Results are listed by place, name, age, home town and time. Men's 10K 1. Annabelle Beck, 10, Spanish Fork, 08:24.7 Men's Softball Tournament Eight teams competed for guts, glory and two sixfoot sandwiches at the Fiesta Days Men's Softball Tournament. In the double-elimination tournament, MaeKenzie Kiley Photography came up through the elimination bracket to face PDR in the finals. The MK team came out swinging, and went up 4-0 in the first. They built an 8-1 lead in the fifth, but PDR tied the game 8-8 thanks to a three-run HR in the bottom of the sixth. MK scored again in the ninth to win the game 9-8 and force a second game. Solid defense featured in the second game, including a PDR triple play in the top of the third inning. MK tied the game 3-3 in the top of the seventh, but the PDR third baseman recorded a crucial out with the bases loaded, and PDR went on to win 4-3. HOME RUN DERBY: A home run derby was held as part of the softball tournament. Chad Miller won with 14. Pictured, left, is Jeff Topham, who had seven HRs in the contest. Namon Bills / The Sentinel |
