Show 1 - Sportto Mere and There by Al Ablett Baseeball is still the subject among the sports fans, and with the great race in both major leagues lea-gues it is any one's guess a3 to who will be In the World Series. Everything favors the Cleveland Indians in the American as they are at home for all but three games this month while the Yankees Yan-kees are on the road. Everyone asks what is keeping Cleveland down. They have three pitchers in the 20 game class. Three of the leading home run and run drive in leaders, in Easter, Doby and Rosen. They have the second sec-ond leading hitter in the league in 'Mitchell, all of the players on the other clubs think they should be ten games iri front. But the one thing everyone seems to overlook ov-erlook is the fact, that they don't have a great shortstop. No team can be great without one. All of the great teams Of the past have had stars down the middle. Take Rizzutto away from the Yankees and I venture to-say they wouldn't would-n't be 1-2-3. I still think the Indians In-dians can make it, because of the schedule ' This is not the case in the National Na-tional league (because the Giants and Brooklyn are strong at shortstop. short-stop. Dark of 'the Giants and Reese of Brooklyn are stars. But they both have a weakness down the middle. The Bums pitching isn't' the best. . and the Giants since they lost Mays have been experimenting in centerfield. So it goes. Look at all the teams and see what they have down the middle and you will see why they are where they are in the standing. The Bingham high school team won their opening football game against Morgan 12 to 6. Gary La-Comb La-Comb ran back a kick some forty yards for the winning counter. He was aided by some great down field blocking with Sonny Robertson taking out the last man with a vicious block. Sonny Son-ny looked good all evening. They play Cyprus here Friday night, September 26 in what should be a real tough game. Cyprus has practically their whole team back from last year, and they are gunning gun-ning for the championship.
