Both were donated by the Thelma Adamson family. ' Special Ceremonies Honor All Vietnam War Veterans By JACK HILL The Vietnam Veterans Appreciation Ap-preciation Day dinner honored 56 Pleasant Grove area citizens in a fitting climax to day long activities last Thursday evening. Activities began at 7:30 a.m. with a Veterans of Foreign Wars three volley flag raising ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park. A new flag, purchased with money donated by the VFW auxilliary, was raised. Boyd Fugal, VFW chaplin offered the prayer. Throughout the day, 250 flags were flown near the time and temperature sign on highway 89. At 4 p.m. in Battle Creek Park, a new aluminum flag pole was dedicted by Mayor Cornell Haynie. The pole was donatd by the Thelma Adamson family. Mark Bezzant reported that the Pleasant Grove High School student council was able to identify and invite 56 local Vietnam veterans to the dinner. Council members worked very hard on this project and they offered apologies if they missed anyone. The "first class" banquet was attended by 125 people. Each veteran in attendance was presented a certificate cer-tificate of appreciation by Mayor Cornell Haynie and Mayor Leon Walker. |
