morning at 1230 during the last 21 hours of 0 his life president snow suffered considerably and was unconscious most ot of the time at intervals lie would rally and endeavor to hut but it was impossible tor for him to form his hia words intelligibly though hla his loved ones watching at the bedside could make out part of what he said at times during the early evening sunday he seemed to rally and calling his family close around spoke to each in complete recognition recondition and gave ave them a hearty pressure of the hand his hia tuf fering became so intense about ten that a physician was wag called in md and administered an opiate which relieved the sick man somewhat until the linal final end came the rugged constitution of president snow acquired through an active outdoor life withstood the onslaughts ot of the affliction was gripped him until it reached the vital parts of his body NN when hen it was till impossible pos gible to hold out any longer A loss less sturdy constitution would have given up the struggle long before but until the last few weeks ot of ills his life president snow steadfastly expressed the hope and belief that he would get well though he always acknowledged his willingness to bow to the degree of providence in the passing of lucious A snow this community loses another of its it stalwart alwart citizens he was born in salt lake city december alth 1849 and came to brigham city with his parents the late president lorenzo snow and ills his wife harriet squires snow when they came here in 1853 except for a short period spent at weston idaho the subject of this sketch made his hig home in brigham city since that chat time most 0 ot i the time was spent upon the farm north of this city where he tolled toiled through the days and during the evenings and upon the sabbath gave his attention to church work A few years ago president snow purchased a home on north main street and turning ills his farm over to his sons came to the city to enjoy ills his last days in devoting himself entirely to church work he missed the activities of farm life however and often spoke of his inability to find enough to do around the lot to keep him busy in the early spring he suffered a severe illness which was the beginning of the final struggle and though ie he rallied somewhat and was enabled to get about tor for a while he never fully recovered andhor and tor the past four or five months he has been confined to his home tor for the most part one blessed feature of the long illness was the apparent lack of physical suffering until the last few hours ot of life and through it all his life long companion and wife nursed him tenderly and anticipated his ever every Y want following the division of the city into tour four wards president snow became a cov counselor to the late bishop henry in which capacity he ha served tor for a number of years later he was waa made the stake superintendent ot of sunday schools when the box elder stake comprised its present boundaries as well as tile the bear river alver and part of 0 the malad and curlew stakes in that capacity president deni snow accle achieved ved some remarkable results and when the stake was re or foI lowid g the elevation of 0 president rudger clawson to the apostleship tle ship with president charles kelley at the head president snow was selected as ono one ot of the counselors ile he served in the same capacity to the tha late president oleen N etolil and when tile the present stake organization was effected in march 1917 he was made the senior member in the high council which position lie he held at the tinie time ot of its his death the one thing which seemed to be llie file burden of president snows anxiety during the long weeks ot of its his last illness was the performing of temple tempie work and lie he confidently felt that lie he was going to be permitted to get I 1 well so that he might carry c irry out that labor in his fathers family ile he was anxious about the family organization and even after he became too ill III to write lie ho had bad members of his family adar address e is letters to various brothers brother s anil and 11 lie ha stated his position and the hope he ever tell fell that the family organization would be perpetuated and the great vicarious work would be accomplished when the first national bank was wag organized some twenty years ago president snow was one ol of its charter members and was elected to the vice presidency a position he has baa continued to hold until the present time he was deeply ln interested in all projects which had for or their alm aim the betterment of conditions for or the people generally and tile the time never came when he was not willing to leave his own affairs in order to discharge some obligation tor for the public in a spiritual or temporal way he was it the personification of an a n honest man being scrupulous in the payment of 0 ills his obligations gat ions thrifty and hard working he was withal generous and tree free with hla his means in aiding worthy causes ile he was truly an example of sobriety and fidelity and his passing indeed ro robs its this community of one ot of its stalwart citizens there are surviving the wife tour four sons sona and three daughters three soa sona f and three laughters daughters preceded their father to the other life A great many brothers and slaters sisters also survive funeral services have hare been arranged to be held in the tatter tabernacle n acle in this city on wednesday afternoon
