I just hand in one column and suddenly realize another l's due. Well, thats life, I guess. What shall we discuss today How about learning to make delightful little bunnies out of dough? These really gladden each tiny heart and are just adorable when you place them in those colorful Easter baskets, along witty the springy green grass and brilliantly colored eggs. It almost takes you back to your childhood, doesnt it? HOPPING EASTER BUNNIES 1 pkg active dry yeast or 1 cake com- pressed yeast 14 cup water cup scalded milk 12 cup sugar 12 cup shortening 1 teaspoon salt 5 12 cups sifted enriched flour 2 beaten eggs 14 cup orange juice 2 tablespoons grated orange peel 1 recipe Sugar Glaze 1 5-- the active dry yeast in warm water; compressed yeast in lukewarm water. Blend milk, sugar, shortening and salt. Cool till lukewarm; stir in about 2 cups flour; beat well. Add eggs; mix well Stir in softened yeast. Add orange juice, peel and remaining flour to make soft dough. Let rest for 10 minutes. Knead dough minutes on lightly floured surface till smooth and elastic. Place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease entire surface. Cover. Let rise in warm place till double in bulk (about 2 hours). Punch down; cover and let rest 10 minutes. To start bunnies, roll dough in a rectangle 12 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut dough in strips about 12 inch wide and roll between hands to smooth. Shape in curlique or twist bunnies as directed further in column. Cover and let rise in warm place till light and nearly double in size (about 0 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 5 minutes. Frost while still warm with Sugar Glaze. Makes 2 12 dozen. Soften 10 45-6- 12-1- , CURLIQUE BUNNIES For each bunny, you will need a strip of dough 10 inches long for body and a 5 inch strip for head. On lightly greased cooky sheet, make a loose swirl of the body swirl. Swirl strip for head and place close to body (Theyll grow together as dough rises. For ears, pinch off 1 12 inch strips and roll between hands until smooth and cigar shaped. Let point make the tip of the ear; snip off opposite end and place ear to head. Pinch off a bit of dough and roll into ball foxtail. Let bunnies almost double in bulk. Bake. Cutest things that you ever saw. Easter eggs are always elegant when viewed through the eyes of a child. They can be made in several different ways to enhance the Easter Basket. It seems like every year someone thinks up a new and exciting thing to do. Thank Goodness. Make sure that you always choose eggs that are well shaped. You can dye them d, or out of the shell. blown, For blown" egg shells: First wash the egg. Make a small hole at both ends of the egg with a pin. Enlarge the holes slightly. Run the pin through the center of the egg to break yolk. Hold egg over bowl; blow gently in one hole. Rinse empty shell hard-cooke- in cold water; let dry thoroughly. Just before dying, rinse in hot water and dry thoroughly. HARD COOKED, SOLID COLOR EGGS Wash eggs (white colors best.) Cover with water; cook 15 minutes just below simmering. Cool quickly in cold water; dry. Prepare dye solutions according to directions on package. While still warm, immerse eggs in coloring until dyed. Dry on rack. Polish with wax or oil. COLORED, OUT OF SHELL EGGS Pretty party garnish: Dissolve one envelope punch powder in 1 cup water. Add eggs; let stand till peeled tinted desired color. Dry on rack. You can also use pickled beet juice, for pink color. Add shelled eggs; cover; Chill for two Gordon W. Wilson SEGO LILY CAMP The Sego Lily Camp of the DUP met at the home of Dollie Nelson on Thursday March 13. Dorothy Christensen, captain was in charge. The pledge to the flags was led by Leah Water. A history was read by Nadine Brown, and the lesson on Pioneer Letters was given by Jennie Cox, lesson leader. Refreshments were served by the hostess and Grace Montague, who also took charge of the music. EGG TREASURES Children will be all agog over these surprise eggs from the Easter Bunny. Dye blown eggshells according to the above directions. Dry. Enlarge one hole to 12 inch diameter. Fill each egg with tiny candies. Cover hole with gummed Easter label or Easter Seals. The life story of Jerusha Kibbe Elmer Spencer was read by a granddaughter, Edith Stanton. Rieka Wyler presented Connie and Pauline Crook, who sang two vocal duets, accompanied by Grace Fielding. The lesson on historical letters was given by Melba Powell. She read two love letters written by George E. Watts, one to his sweetheart and one to his sixth wife. Mrs. Powell also . read several other letters from the lesson bulletin. Refreshments were served by Vanetta Leah Greenhalgh and Beatrice Argyle, Stade to 23 members and two guests. CAMP ONE Camp One of the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers met Thursday at the home of Alpha Balle. Lucille Allen, captain, was in charge of the meeting. ' Prayer was by Audrey Rasmussen. Singing was under the direction of Mrs. Balle. Historic letters and pictures were given by Afton DeWitt, class leader. Mrs. Balle read from her family book (Lars Madsen's family) which was an interesting history of her great grandfather. Mrs. Viola Spencer, guests and sister, gave a very interesting story of Devils Gate" whose locale was in Wyoming where their great grandfather was buried. He was born Sept. 22, 1915, in Santaquin a son of Robert Henry and Zelphia Nisonger Wilson. He married Mary Confers in 1961 in California. They were lated divorced. Mr. Wilson had received his education in Payson City schools. He had also lived in Long Beach, Calil, for a time For the past 15 years he had resided in Las Vegas, Nev., working as a maintenance engineer at the Riveria Hotel. He was a mdmber of the LDS Church. Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Wilson of Las Vegas, and two brother sand two sisters, AlmaN. Wilson, Payson; Herbert W. Wilson and Mrs. WiUiam (Elna) Harryman, both of Spanish Fork, and Clifton (Rhea) Bartholomew, Redlands, Calif. Funeral services for Gordon William Wilson were held Saturday, March 15, 1969 at the Keith Jolley Mortuary with Bishop Loyd L, Smith, conducting.
