S and 2700 West We took entertainment that the family would would enjoy said Steve Ashby Vice Chair of the Taylorsville committee We tried to encourage our vendors to create an atmosphere and an offering that would be family friendly Carnival rides petting zoos and face painting w were just a afew afew afew few activities that were made available for children Free live music on two separate stages along with various arrays of food from Peruvian to Greek were Continued on t i r f fI 4 r I s y Photo I by Jessica Gonzales I A fireworks extravaganza ended Saturday night at Taylorsville Taylorsville D Continued from Al enough to keep attendees full and entertained This is my first year here with my grandson said Ginny We Ve were at the petting zoo earlier and he enjoyed that I wasn't aware that Taylorsville had all these things and events for kids Taylorsville began in 1997 and marked the celebration of the organization of Taylorsville as a city on July 1 1996 Since then the event has grown thanks to careful consideration and successful arrangements by those who are involved in r r its development The Taylorsville Committee began I ln 1 h n nl 1 p anning t me e 11 V event in November of 2007 discussing what events would go on and the entertainment that would be supplied to people who attended The first thing we try to do is start looking for headliners said Ashby and that takes a couple of months of deliberation and considering different options Susan Holeman has been on the Taylorsville event committee for the past five years In charge of daytime and night time entertainment for the main stage and west stage Holeman aimed to get acts that would help keep the family atmosphere We try to get things that arent aren't offensive to people said Holeman Were trying to keep it more family oriented nn nn Both stages featured live acts that continued all weekend The west stage which is the smaller of the two hosted various local bands and artists from rock and country to reggae Weve kept music going on all day to help cater to different audiences said Holeman There are a lot lotof lotof lotof of people here More than I expected June 27 kicked off the first series of events At pm p.m. carnival rides and booths selling various items from blankets to jewelry lined up the north section of the park The Taylorsville Orchestra and Imagine a Beatles tribute band headlined the evening and fireworks followed Saturday June 28 hosted the biggest events of Taylorsville Ashby estimates that nearly people attended Saturdays Saturday's ACa r t nr n t Tra iF cis r A t S I T r rM M f n r. r No Ji f 10 i t J.
