BLODGETT Editor Winder Dairy of West Valley City and Rudy Luna of State Farm Insurance were honored recently by the Valley West Chamber of Commerce. Winder Dairy was cited as the "Business of the Year" for 1997 and Luna was honored as "Volunteer of the Year" by the Chamber. d The dairy business has conducted a successful operation in West Valley City for three generations of Winders: Ned, Kent and Mike. family-owne- The dairy was established in the early 1930s when it was located isolated -- - south of 4100 South in what used to be the unin- corporated area of Salt Lake County. Leaders in the dairy business have been very involved in political, community and church activities - including the Chamber of Commerce. ' Chambers to fill vacancy on WVC Parks and Recreation Committee C. Burt ' Carolyn Burt was recently appointed to fill a vacancy on the West Valley Citys Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. She will fill the seat vacated by Chris Taylor who resigned because he moved out of state. Carolyn has been interested in Parks and on the serving Recreation Advisory Committee, and even attended a recreation center review with city staff in Nampa, Idaho, at her own expense. She will fill the unexpired term of Taylor, which ends in July of the year 2000. The Parks and Recreation Advisory committee has nine members, each serving terms. Many are reappointed for addition terms. Carolyn is an advocate of all types of recreation and has expertise in the area of competitive swimming. She is an active official at regional swim meets, and has several organized swimming events.
