Show UP&L Drops Rates The Utah Public Service Commission Com-mission Friday approved a $26.5 million price reduction for Utah Power & Light Co. Typical households will save about $1.50 to $2 per month after Sept. 15, when the new prices go into effect. This latest drop in prices about four percent, on average is the sixth for Utah customers since January Jan-uary 1988. It brings the total reduction to 12 percent in less than two years. The price cut resulted from consultations with state consumer con-sumer agencies, regulators, industrial indus-trial and other customers. "We see this as another milestone mile-stone in what we expect will be a continuing scries of price reductions over the next few years," declared Utah Power President Frank N. Davis. "As we have worked to become be-come more competitive, we have streamlined our operations." He said that these efficiencies and others resulting from the merger with PacifiCorp will continue to reduce electricity prices. In addition to its own efforts to reduce costs, the company has been working with local governments and businesses across the state to stimulate economic development. Steadily increasing revenues combined com-bined with steadily improving efficiency effi-ciency produce lower overall prices, Davis explained. |
