Show CENTRAL SCHOOL NEWS american education week I 1 last week was american aduca tion week and our mothers came to visit and see how we were doing in our classes many mothers were I 1 disappio anted and many mothers were pleased we all want to please our moth ers and fathers we gave a very nice program for our parents when the chorus sang four numbers aft er the program the parents had a meeting and mr jensen gave a very nice speech the ones that waited for their parents waited quietly in miss long longs s room where the chorus tea cher mrs ellington read a story after the meeting all the chorus went down to find their parents some parents stayed to talk to the teachers reported by patricia lee tuesday evening november 11 over parents filled the central school auditorium to overflowing this mee meeting was for the parents to discuss their children with the teachers the central school chorus which was made up of fifth and sixth grade students sang four selections for the parents wednesday november 12 1019 parents came to see their children s wor reported by carol green than thanksgiving and turkeys the pilgrims observed thanks giving by feasting on wild turkeys to 0 o celebrate their first harvest the custom of eating turkey at thanksgiving time has been car ned ried on since As the country grew the wild turkey has disappeared from the woods and has been re placed by turkeys raised on farms thanksgiving day has kept its original meaning and the domes tic turkey is the spec es that grew wild in 1620 over three hundred years of chiv has not changed the day nor the bird reported by jenean crawford mr D L palmer s family had a very pleasant surprise friday nov ember 14 my aunt and uncle came home from a L D S mission from holland where they spent two years they told us about their dutch experiences reported by joyce palmer the flag when the flag goes up at the central school the boys and girls stand straight their hands over their hearts and hats off there are only about twenty pu pils out of a thousand that talk and move when the fl flag ag is going up mr jensen and the students are very proud of this they hope that in the future everyone will stand at qt attention hands over their hearts and anu hats off reported by terry sullivan last sunday my father took my sister and me to the turkey shoot daddy watched the men shoot the first time there were fifteen men shooting at once the next time daddy and another man hit the balloon the second time they both missed the third time daddy hit the balloon but the other man missed so we are going to have a turkey on thanksgiving reported by jack davis lunch room news on november 17 we had a total of eat at the lunch room there was first grade pupils eating at the lunch room bast rast friday there was a separate room opened for the first graders and there are two other rooms for the second third fourth fifth and sixth grades they serve bread butter milk sometimes meat soups and some kind of dessert it costs a day reported by carol peterson |
