farmers day and the county ar fair 6 4 r As aa I 1 was late reaching g my office last week I 1 was unable to publish an article concerning farmers day J I 1 to as held throughout the counties count iea of carbon and emery the total number who availed themselves of this trip in the different towns reached near the two hundred and fifty mark this is an exceptionally fine showing and is evidence to TOO me that this number will be easily doubled next year I 1 believe the losers 0 were those who did not join us on the trip farmers except in very few instances should not allow themselves to become so busy that they cannot avail themselves of such a privilege as farmers day affords to learn of the better farm methods used by neighbors the new ideas of others the demonstrated successes of different crops under treatment of definite methods the value of crop rotation the tho use of barnyard manure the minimum use of irrigation water cultivation practices crops grown on fall ploughed land dry land and grain the enthusiasm one receives and many other benefits that one derives farmers and business men dont misa mim these opportunities they dont present themselves every day the most successful farmer the rost successful business man the most successful progressive community is the one that has time to visit others and learn their failures and successes success ts the course of self experience is often too expensive for moot most men to register in As farmers the world over we do not visit each other enough and as business men we are guilty of the misdemeanor of offering too little encouragement to he farmer farmers day was a success in every town except one the deop people e of that town will be the losers they know whether whether or not they turned i out on our trip we bad the asso elation of dr evans slate state leader three days dr frank S harris head of ehg school of agriculture utah agricultural college two days the men are men of experience and aided the farmers materially during their short stay As I 1 slated stated through the press some time ago we are going to hold a county fair this year it will be I 1 held in price as in other years and I 1 has been arranged for on the i and aoth of september the officers and local committees are now all chosen and are working assiduously I 1 to make the fair better than it has been in the past years the two counties and the city of Price have appropriated very liber and the business men have done themselves proud in filling the ad columns the farmers are wor working k ing to have good exhibits ready this year and god has blessed us as a people with abundant crops of many kinds adlof all of these things united make it ii possible to hold a wonderfully good fair this year it is up to all of us to boost now and we will surpass our record of the past two years although they were very successful by a large margin everybody work and boost until after the fair is over then our success is evident very respectfully ROBERT fl STEWART agriculturist carbon and emery counties countless leman garnr was up from the ranch tuesday and reports that hia his father and mother returned saturday from a fishing and camping trip in the neighborhood of fork fort duchesne on their return their team ran away throwing out one child but injuring no one
