Show PAROWAN AND LUND SHOULD BE WORKED THIS FULL FALL FOR FOB WINTER TRAVEL DRY CRY FARMERS OFFER TO 00 WORK ON OH ROAD GRATIS UP TO COUNTY ANO AND STATE TO FINISH ROAD hugh L adams stepped into the times office monday and told the editor that a large number of dry farmers at lund and near by vicinities cini ties are very anxious for the road between parowan carowan and lund to be worked on some this fall so that it will be passable for the winter travel the gentleman stated that a number of the farmers referred to told mm him that they were more than willing to do considerable work on the road without cost to the county or state realizing that it will be a big benefit to them to have this road in passable shape so that they may come to the county seat to do business the farmers claim that in their experience have hav ethey they lived in a county where no decent road led to the county seat and are somewhat astonished that iron county is so forgetful of the interests of the residents of the county on the west as to fail to provide suitable roads to the county seat it is understood that W D beers state engineer and a member of the state road commission gave instruction st to road supervisor H M hendrickson to spend on the road referred to and it was mr Hendrick sons firm intention to do so when he was again informed to wait until further notice before beginning active operations this news was received by him after the stir about the proposed railroad from lund to cedar was made whether the railroad talk had a bearing on the stopping of the work on the road is not definitely known but we have been informed that it is more than likely that this is a fact why a proposed railway to cedar should be the cause of abandoning work on the road from parowan carowan to lund is a mystery as the farmers residing in and near lund as well as a large number of cattle men will but seldom use the railroad if built to make trips to the county seat it is only 38 miles from lund to parowan carowan Pa rowan and the gentlemen referred to have teams and conveyances vey ances and would not let them be idle simply to take a ride 35 miles to cedar and then spend money for for an auto ride to parowan carowan from edar we trust that the state road commission will be able to see the injustice to the northern end of the country to not having the parowan lund road made a state highway and kept in a traveling condition at all seasons of the year |
